Little Emma has joined our team

Big things have been happening to my graphics comapny Pix and Mix over the last couple of months and we now have a new member of staff. Let me introduce Emma (AKA Gummy Bear).
Emma is an awesome graphic designer, illustrator and designer/maker of the coolest plush toys i've ever seen!

Now let me tell you about how we met Emma and the story behind us employing her!
Just before Christmas last year I attended a craft fair at a local school, I wasn't expecting to see much that interested me but got a huge surprise when I found I stall that was full of handmade plush toys, they reminded me of the kawaii Japanise style art that I love! I picked up a business card and said 'great toys, I love the designs' to the girl that was selling them. As soon as I got home I had a browse around the site and saw even more cute animals and beings, I also read a bit about emma and saw her CV that she's included on her website.
A few days went past. Then one evening I got an email sent to my companies email address from a girl who was looking for a graphic design job. I thought it was a shame as we couldn't employ another graphic designer at the time but thought i'd check her CV out before I wrote back and told her the bad news, Imagine my suprprise when I clicked on her CV and realised it was the same CV that i'd seen a few days before on the website with the plush toys!

After coming around from the shock I thought it would be a good idea to contact her and ask her to come in for an informal chat with us as I really liked her work. We were looking to employ a PA at the time and wondered if Emma would be able to do this for us then when we got lots of design jobs she could help me do some of that too!
The day of the interview…

Emma arrived to the interview spot on time and dressed in a very smart but extreamly funky way, as she walked in I noticed she was carrying a bag just like mine and had tights with a tattoo pattern on that were just like mine too, we had a good chat and realised that as well as liking the same sort of things we worked in the same kind of way and had the same ideas about what we'd like to achive in the future.
Emma finished her interview and left, I spoke to my dad who's Emmas boss and owner of our group of companies (Gareth Holsgrove Associates Ltd) and we decided to give her a ring later in the day and offer her a job.
Later on that day my dad phoned me and told me that Emma had accepted the job, I was dancing around my loving room at the fantastic news!

Emma's first day at the Pix and Mix Design Office…

A few days before Emma joined us I got really ill and couldn't stop being sick, I felt absolutely awful and couldn't believe the timing of it all! I dragged myself in to the office and a few minutes after I arrived Emma arrived full of life to find me curled up in an office chair using my coat as a blanket and trembling. I must have looked so awful and really hoped I didn't put Emma off working with us!
We had a team meeting then asked Emma if she'd like to re-design our company logo for us. She got cracking right away and I went home to bed where I stayed for the next 6 days!

Since then I have been working alongside the awesome Emma on various projects including the re-design and building of our company website and am really looking forward to our new adventures at work.
